The First Step

If you want to run, surely you need to look like you're going to run. So, I bought training gear today - well, a zipped top and bottoms from Sainsbury's. I figure that pretty much is 'training gear' :) And blue trainers, can't run without them, of course.
Next item to buy, a baseball cap. Not for fashion purposes, more for keeping warm. Mood at the moment, motivated, really up for running.
Background - married with kids, studying, life moving along fine, but, as with so many, I need to up my fitness levels. Diets aren't on, been there, done that. I want long term changes, and that means basically eating with common sense. That has to go hand-in-hand with exercising regularly. In the past, I've gone to gyms, which haven't worked for me. One reason being the lack of effective childcare, which I think there is a market for with respect to gyms being so anti-children; another reason is the cost of it all. And a demotivating factor is seeing all those fit folk in the gym (pass me the sick bucket!) So, when the kids are at nursery and school, I am starting a fitness kick, jogging (and eventually running)in the local park.
This ticks a lot of boxes: it's cheap, it's convenient and I have childcare guaranteed.
Special thanks to a friend's personal ambitions being my inspiration for doing this. Let's hope I stay motivated or I am so never going to hear the end of this :) All messages of support welcome, and the placing of bets will be closely monitored ;o)
